All moms and expecting moms have been there — we see a cool product at the store or we’re served an ad that tells us we absolutely need whatever product they’re selling, and then we fall victim to the marketing scheme, cave, and buy it. This then leads to a recurring conversation amongst mothers that I’ve been privy to as of late, with my ears perked each time, stating that so much of what they purchased as first-time moms was completely unnecessary and a waste of money.

Whether these products are solving for a “problem” that isn’t really a problem, or there’s better alternatives, or they’re simply gimmicks and not actually useful or helpful, I surveyed 10 new and veteran moms to build this list of five products you DON’T need as first-time parents. So keep that precious moola and spend it on things you’ll really use, or save it for the next outing or trip with the family.
